Blossoms & Brass | Costa Mesa

Located outside of Collage at South Coast Plaza, next to Bloomingdale's. It's a small drinks and dining bar, with outdoor table seating and indoor bar seating. The interior design is pretty cute (gold ornamentation, accents of purple and mint green) but I forgot to take a picture of all that.

I was here for a nice girls' night out and we shared...

Fried calamari (left) & fried pickled bok choy (right) for happy hour

The fried calamari was super yummy! I could have reached for more 🤤 The fried bok choy—at first impression, I forgot I was eating a vegetable because it tasted so much like a parmesan chip. Both of these have Japanese seasonings... they both had togarashi, and the pickled bok choy was additionally in Japanese arrabbiata sauce and with a few shiso leaves.

Blossoms rigatoni

The color of this pasta sauce comes from the pink wine miso pesto! I'd say this was not bad. I'd eat it again. The rigatoni was very al dente, and the flavor of the sauce tastes as intended 😆 Often can't go wrong with pesto.

Nutella cheesecake

Surprisingly so tasty! It was on the creamier side, which I didn't expect because whenever I see a cheesecake like this, I completely expect it to taste like dark chocolate ganache and feel thick. The consistency was light enough and creamy. If you are a hardcore Nutella lover, maybe you would be wanting more Nutella flavor but this was just right and pleasing for me, as someone who isn't that crazy about hazelnut!

I would definitely come back again for a casual hangout, but not if I was looking to eat a lot or have a substantial meal. It's the perfect place for drinks and social talk over bites.
